Happy 4th Hooch Hog

Spent the 4th of July morning with a good friend and after landing about 50 Bows a piece he landed one of the best fish out of the hooch in a few years. about 27 inches around 5-6 pounds but a perfect fish. nice kype, beautiful colors and great fight. Its a good time to bring the kids out and get their fill on stocked trout as most of the river is fishing well and you can get out of the heat by wet wading and hooking into some decent fish. Streamers, Dark Stones, and San Juans will do the trick. Still have guide trips going at Brigadoon lodge and the fish are still cooperating. Shoot me a message to book a trip for trophy trout before the season ends!

Frog Hollow

Took my father-in-law to Frog Hollow Monday. Fishing was insane and got some slobs on top. yellow stimulators and elk hairs were the answer for most.
Great day. If you want to get On some big fish, Frog Hollow has some real monsters...shoot me an email to book your trip today.

Cold front on the Hooch

I arrived today at Paces, a DH section of the Hooch around 7:30. No cars in the lot, threw my gear on and walked down the ramp and could not believe the amount of Blue Heron eyeing every run and riffle. I counted seventeen just in the fifty yards up river and down river from where I stood. Along the river banks I could see numerous king fishers perched on trees as well. Really cool to see. Not so cool for the trout as I found a few speared small bows left on the bank. It was 28 degrees and rose to 32 around 11am. Icy guides, frozen snot, and river to myself. Sweet. Size ten Czech nymphs and Vladi Worms we're the choice today.
Great morning to be in the water!

Dredging the Hooch

Spent last Friday Fishing one of my favorite stretches of the Hooch. sunny, 64 degrees, insane BWO hatch, and the whole river to myself...quite the day! Started off on catching on Czech nymphs in the morning and was able to score a number on top ...size 20 BWOs once that sun got up. Mostly bows but a few little browns mixed in..
The light or non-existent crowds on the upper stretches during the DH season on the hooch are always enjoyable.
Water has cleared considerably after a month of Pea Soup from Lanier.
Great time to be on the river!
