I arrived today at Paces, a DH section of the Hooch around 7:30. No cars in the lot, threw my gear on and walked down the ramp and could not believe the amount of Blue Heron eyeing every run and riffle. I counted seventeen just in the fifty yards up river and down river from where I stood. Along the river banks I could see numerous king fishers perched on trees as well. Really cool to see. Not so cool for the trout as I found a few speared small bows left on the bank. It was 28 degrees and rose to 32 around 11am. Icy guides, frozen snot, and river to myself. Sweet. Size ten Czech nymphs and Vladi Worms we're the choice today.
Great morning to be in the water!
